We only install screened stainless steel or copper caps with lifetime warranties.

Galvanized caps (found in hardware stores) will rust through and need to be replaced on a regular basis. In addition the rust stains from these caps cannot be removed.

Stone caps have a tendency to crack and fall, damaging the chimney and/or roof. The supporting stacks deteriorate which can also cause the stone to fall, and it is difficult or impossible to clean the flue from the top of the chimney (which is how most woodstove and furnace flues are cleaned). Therefore we do not install stone caps.
